Our Purpose

Your support fuels our advocacy

Defending Our Profession

We take on legal battles to protect the rights and recognition of educational psychologists within the South African healthcare and education systems, including submissions to the HPCSA Professional Board for Psychology.

Protecting Our Practice

We negotiate directly with medical schemes and the HPCSA to ensure that educational psychology is fairly recognised and compensated, so practitioners are not left out of pocket for the essential work they do.

Supporting Our Future

Every rand raised goes toward securing a sustainable future for educational psychology - for current practitioners and those entering the profession. South Africa needs more, not fewer, mental health professionals.

    Common Questions

What you might want to know

What does EPASSA's advocacy fund pay for?

The fund covers legal fees for HPCSA submissions, medical scheme negotiations, professional board hearings, and campaigns to secure fair recognition and compensation for educational psychologists across South Africa.

How much does EPASSA need to raise?

EPASSA's 2026 advocacy target is R600,000. Every contribution, whether one session (R1,290) or an amount of your choosing, brings the profession closer to sustained legal representation.

    Can I donate anonymously?

Yes. Simply tick the "Keep my donation anonymous" checkbox on the donation form before submitting. Your payment will be processed securely via PayFast, but your name will not appear on the public tracker.

Why are educational psychologists fighting for recognition in South Africa?

Educational psychologists in South Africa are registered with the HPCSA but are not consistently covered by medical aid schemes. EPASSA is engaged in ongoing legal and policy advocacy to ensure the profession is fairly recognised and compensated within the South African healthcare and education systems.
