Collaboration Between Psychologists

November 13, 2017

Amidst the challenges posed by disagreements regarding differences between the scope of practice of different psychologists, additional difficulties have emerged in cases requiring collaboration between professionals. EPASSA would like to emphasise the need for co-operation of psychologists of different categories.

EPASSA recognises that it is common for different categories of psychologists to co-operate, for instance in writing joint reports when so required by legal procedure, or in any way that serves the best interests of a client. Different categories of psychologists and other professionals often share common frames of reference and/or can provide information that supplements each other’s understandings of a client’s needs.

The Code of Conduct for psychologists requires that where indicated and professionally appropriate, psychologists will co-operate with other professionals to serve clients effectively and appropriately.
