Vanessa Gaydon interviewed on SAFM and Power FM discussing the plight of Educational Psychologists

July 29, 2016

One of our committee members, Vanessa Gaydon, was interviewed on SAFM on Wednesday morning and Power FM on Thursday as a follow up to the article published in News 24 this week about Medical Aids refusing to pay for the services of Educational Psychologists. Both interviews highlighted the fact that the HPCSA Professional Board for Psychology and the Council for Medical Schemes CMS have continued to ignore our plight and refused to act, despite numerous letters to them and meetings with them. During the second interview, Professor Basil Pillay, the Chairperson of the Professional Board for Psychology twice confirmed that medical aids should be paying for the services of Educational Psychologists. He also confirmed that the board will be publishing guidelines regarding the interpretation of the scope of practice.
